On Thursday, 12 April 2018 George Vella – Blacktown Workers Club Group (BWCG) Director (left) represented the Club at a special presentation at Blacktown North Public School (BNPS) with Carmen Cefai – BNPS Principal (middle) and Don Tilly – Learning Links General Manager of Corporate Partnerships and Marketing (right).
We are very big supporters of the work that Learning Links do helping children and young people with learning difficulties and special needs overcome their barriers and fulfilling their lives. We are privileged to fund a Learning Links Speech Therapist to work one day a week with children and teachers at BNPS.
BNPS is a very multicultural school with over 22 different nationalities with a percentage of students from a refugee background. For 88% of students and their families, English is a second language. There is a need for a speech therapist to work in small groups with the children as well as one on one support when needed. The therapist will also provide training to the teachers in Blacktown North Public School which will broaden their skills and knowledge on supporting students with speech difficulties.
“Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your generosity in supporting our school. This donation will be extremely beneficial for a large number of our students with speech difficulty. Through this generous donation our school will also be able to train teachers to assist students with speech difficulties, therefore this will benefit not only present but also future students within our school.
Contributions like yours ensure students are given the best possible opportunity in education which will help them to succeed in their future lives.
Thank you on behalf of Blacktown North Primary School community.” – Carmen Cefai.
