Blacktown Workers Club Group has been at the heart of the community for 65 years and has proudly supported local organisations such as Meals on Wheels.  This partnership started over 33 years ago and includes the donation of a delivery van and providing lunch for the volunteers.

A dedicated group of Club members have given their time every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for 51 weeks of a year from the commencement of this partnership. That’s thousands of meals delivered, lots of happy faces and knowing we have made a difference in so many, including elderly, socially disadvantaged, homeless and other vulnerable people in the Blacktown community.

After being advised from Meals On Wheels Blacktown that their Christmas puddings that were usually supplied had not come through for 2020, the Club stepped in and put together over 400 Christmas hampers packed by our amazing staff volunteers. Tinsel tied hampers were filled with festive treats, food and hygiene products.

On a rainy Tuesday 15 December, Santa along with BWCG staff delivered the hampers to the home of Meals on Wheels Blacktown at Blacktown Senior Citizens Centre.  Our Directors were at the scene to assist with the ‘pass the parcel’ line to unload the hamper-full Club bus.

“What amazing gifts to bestow on us.  We are so very grateful as will our clients be.  A big thank you to the Blacktown Workers Club Group, from the bottom of our hearts” – Blacktown Meals on Wheels representative.
